Tribute to Markku Filppula
It was wtih great sadness that we learnt about the passing of our colleague, the late Markku Filppula. He was a wonderful person and a great researcher who contributed heavily to the development of the field of Irish English and Irish English studies. As such, we decided he honor him with a tribute video that we played at NPIE 8 and which everybody is welcome to watch below.

Cáceres
To those perhaps unfamiliar with our city, Cáceres is a UNESCO World Heritage city full of history and rich architecture which is one of the reasons it was recently featured as a “hidden treasure” and “one of the best preserved, European, Medieval town[s]” in The Telgraph!
Indeed, its magnificent “Old Town” even served as filming location for HBO’s Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon! Watch below from 2.46 onward for a peek at Cáceres /Kings Landing.

Aside from the Old Town, Cáceres is also a wonderful culinary hub where tourist may enjoy the best of Extremaduran cuisine. In addition, the city is surrounded by stunning landscapes and nature, such as Los Barruecos or Mofragüe's Natural Park. So what better excuse to visit Cáceres than to come to NPIE 8!
